Singletrack in the snow
It's not dry Picture Rock trail, but it's riding. And this loop is straight out the driveway from the Hills. Wow I'm lucky.

Alina skis Breck
Today I went up on the mountain to ski like all the big kids. Thing is, I'm barely three, so it's super cool. My whole family came and it was fun.
It was a long walk from my house to the bus stop...
But I got there fast, and then ended up sitting and waiting for the bus...
My Granny and PawPaw came to watch me ski. I really wanted to show them how fast I am.
Here I am riding up the gondola.
After I skied, I got hot chocolate. It was way too hot, so daddy put ice in it. Then we rode the gondola back to town, and took the bus back to my neighborhood. It was a great day.

season over
After checking the long range finances, which include a trip to SF, tires for my Xterra, Holiday shopping, and now Alina's eye doctor visits and glasses, I have officially ended my cross season. Priorities need to be established. While I had a great time with cross, all good things must end. No regrets, had a few good races, no great ones, no top 5s, but there's always next year!
glasses for Alina
Helen brought Alina to an optometrist in Frisco yesterday. Apparently she is very farsighted. Not super sure of the optometry lingo, but I think she has +8 diopter. From what I read, +2 or +3 is normal in kids, and their eye muscles can compensate. But this optometrist was sure that +8 would not change or correct itself, and that she would need glasses for the rest of her life. Kind of a bummer. We are quick to say we are super grateful and thankful and blessed to have Alina, and that overall she is exceptional health. But this is still a bit tough to swallow. We of course have some concerns, but I am sure it will all be fine in the long run. Just need to decide on whether or not to get a 2nd opinion, and would this be from a pediatric ophthamologist or a pediatric optometrist.
