Over 9 hours, 50 miles, and one seriously pulled hamstring later, Helen finished The North Face 50-mile Endurance Challenge in the incredible Marin headlands. The size and diversity of the trees was really cool. A stunningly beautiful place. Tomorrow we hope to see Muir Woods. I can see why so many millions of people want to live here, and also of course why the real estate here is so expensive. The town of Tiburon was spectacular. Cliffside $2M+ homes everywhere. I've also never seen so many road cyclists before, all riding super expensive bikes. And to think I joke about all of the rich people in Boulder...this place makes Boulder seem so affordable. As much as I want to ride my mtb here, a road ride around the fancy homes on the coast in Tiburon would be dreamy. And although they claim that Mt. Tamalpais is one of the birthplaces of mountain biking, ironically enough, most of the singletracks up there are closed to mountain bikes. Prob too many potential user conflicts.
