i see the light
no, it's unfortunately not the promise of sunnier, warmer weather. It's actually the fact that I only now have slight cold and little to no sore throat. Helen still has a cough and isn't feeling great, but at least we're both back at work and trying to get on with our lives. My parents are coming out this weekend, so that is exciting enough. Moab in 11 days, I just hope Helen doesn't need her snowshoes for the Red Hot 50K. Last year we both vividly remember the miserable weather we had to drive through. Most mountain passes and parts of I-70 were shut down, so we ended up taking 9.5hrs to drive what is normally a 4.5hr drive. But once in Moab, we were delighted to have 60 degrees and sunshine. I doubt we'll be that lucky this year. Even 40 degrees and no snow would be okay, we just want some dry trails somewhere. The persistently wet and cold jet stream this winter had left, for the most part, above average precip from the Pacific NW all the way down through the Rockies and into the desert southwest. Moab has been drying out between storms, but they still seem to get a dusting of snow at least weekly. Hopefully we hit it right and can enjoy a couple days out of the tundra here.
