yesterday morning we drove over to Vail for another 10K trail running race for Helen. As we pulled into the parking garage, Helen saw some tiny, fit-looking Japanese women and was soon nervous that the "fast people" were there. Well, she shouldn't discount her own talents, as she was the female overall champion of the Vail HillClimb. Alina and I were super excited for her. And to top it off, we got to ride the Gondola up to Adventure Ridge to see all of the action. Next Sunday she has another one, the Teva Vail Trophy Challenge, which is a selection race for the TEVA US Mountain Running Team. This uphill course is really steep, ascending over 3100' in just under 5 miles. Helen doesn't really care for short races, but she is a great climber, so we'll see.
After the race, we all got to ride down in the gondola, and we strolled through the farmer's market on the way back to the car. Real nice day. Saw lot of rich people milling around with there Dolce & Gabbana sunglasses and designer clothes. Pretty funny, such a difference from Breck. Glad we live in Breck.
