this past weekend we were down in the Ouray/Silverton area of the San Juans for the Hardrock 100. Helen paced David Wilcox for about 50mi and over 20,000' of vertical gain. She met him in Ouray around 8:15pm, and she was off pacing until 4:30pm the next day. She was really beat after, but everything went well, and David had a great time also! Alina and I had a lot of fun in our hotel and we also walked all over Ouray several times. I found this little cajun restaurant, Le Papillon (pic below). Complete with fleur-de-lis and Saints parephernalia, and some really cool jazz fest posters as well. I had a soft shell crab po-boy with a side of jambalaya. Not the freshest crab, but a coon landlocked in the middle of Colorado doesn't have the highest expectations. Alina loved the hand-blown glass store, along with the Victorian era restaurant we had breakfast in. The drive to Silverton is amazing, going over Red Mountain Pass is just surreal. Makes Breck look like Kansas. Helen says she wants to put her name in the lottery to try that race next summer...
